‘Khate-peete ghar se’
When I first saw this infographic, it absolutely blew my mind! At a personal level, I have always been a bit heavy around the waist, as are many others around me.
As I have also been pretty sporty and athletic (I wear this badge with panache), this has helped me rationalise being out of shape.
What I did not know for so long was that despite exercising so much, I was at a risk of many non-communicable diseases like diabetes, hypertension and cancer.
The 3 deadly sins
The root cause of this silent epidemic is our diet – excess of fat, salt and sugar. This is what has led to an explosion of non-communicable diseases.
Eat Right India
FSSAIs ‘Eat Right’ initiative focuses on preventive healthcare through a healthy diet – it aims to reduce consumption of HFSS (high fat, sugar and salt) foods.
We believe that it is important to think out of the box and use innovative technologies to put some of the ‘Eat Right’ initiatives into action.
